This is a story about my Halloween Town. I used to put a description of the origins of my villages on every post about my villages, but since I have a whole created page about the Village Stories I have written, Check it out there if you have no idea what my Halloween Town is. (Here’s a hint, you need to click the hyperlink in the previous sentence to see it.)
I added some new elements in 2023…. so this is a story about them. And since every year I do set up the town slightly different….. here’s a current photograph:

It was the last weekend in September and Witch Hill was buzzing with anticipation that October was just around the corner. Halloween was coming! But there was a new attraction this year.

Dezza the witch was new in Witch Hill, having traveled from the old country to find this new place. Finding an abandoned building on the outskirts of the neighborhood, she set to work fixing it up as best as she could, seeing a need for a hotel for weary travelers. She was working on the front of her Scary Inn, hoping that soon she would draw customers that, like her, traveled from afar.
Pemberton watched afar as she worked hard to put the finishing touches on her edifice, working once again on Eustace’s spare skull (all the while confused as to why Eustace even had a spare skull… but he didn’t ask questions). He wondered if the new witch was going to fit in to the neighborhood. But then he thought of how batty the others thought Mellie was. Agatha was just as crazy and the witches accepted her. But Dezza remained aloof, keeping to herself.
The others wondered what secrets she kept.
Meanwhile, in Skels Hamlet, there was also a newcomer.

Steve held a trick or treat bucket in his hand as he stood outside one of the houses in the hamlet. He had no idea where he was or who he was, aside for the fact that his name was Steve. But was it really Steve?
Eustace held on to his original skull as he watched the new resident. It was sometimes discombobulating for the long dead to realize they were skeletons in the hamlet. Some regained the memories of their former lives. Others created new lives as skels. It appeared this Steve was going to have to come up with a life, since he had no memory of who he was.
Sometimes, that was an awesome way to create a cool story.
Over at Slime River, there were also some new residents….. and the inhabitants of Halloween Town were a little more worried about these newcomers.

Bartolo Everyman noticed them first, watching them from his spot on the bridge. The pirate king was wary of them, as he should have been. For they appeared to be cursed with the same affliction as those up on Cemetery Hill.
How these undead pirates were able to sneak past Twyla and the magic she had to protect the town from the undead, no one knows. But they congregated around the ooze of Slime River, seemingly drinking in its nastiness as sustenance.
Curiously though, that’s all they did. They did not try to attack any of the inhabitants of the whole town, living or skeleton. They even ignored Humphreys’ cousins, who had come back yet again to bring gifts to their gnome family member. The pirates simply roamed about the banks of the river, waving their swords and moaning incoherently.
Maybe some of the magic Humphreys was trying to do was finally working.
Maybe…..
Until next time, dear friends……. Stay magical……
