Treasured

I have some words written on my bathroom mirror in dry erase crayon.

They change when I clean my mirror, but for the most part, they have the same theme:

Don’t let anyone steal your magic.

Be the (love, good, change, joy, hope, peace, magic) you wish to see in the world

You are loved / good enough / treasured.

It’s sometimes easy to forget these messages, so I keep them where I look at them first thing in the morning, reminding me that the voices in my head are wrong. I am valuable. I am enough. I am treasured.

That last one is a new way of thinking for me. I am treasured.

There’s a verse in Matthew that reads….

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21, New International Version

Where we see value, we also see hearts.

But the problem often is that we don’t see value, especially in ourselves. Where we should see good, we see only faults. Where we should see optimism, we see cynicism. We need faith, but we can’t embrace it. We need hope, but we can’t receive it. We need love, but we don’t accept it.

We are valuable, but we don’t believe it.

What happens then? What happens when we can’t see the treasure trove that surrounds us? What happens when we don’t see the value we have or the value others have? Where are our hearts then?

That’s when we lose the magic.

It’s in finding the value again that magic is reborn.

Over the course of this year, I set several goals for my writing. Several of them were goals specifically set for this blog of mine. I set what I thought were realistic goals. But being one who sometimes has a hard time believing in the value of my own worth, I decided to set the bar low. I took aim for the moon, as it were.

Dear friends, I not only have achieved those goals….. I have already knocked several of them out of the solar system with your help.

I underestimated myself. I did not value my own worth, even when others had seen my value. But with each comment, each share of my blog posts, each review of one of my books, each message of how I have helped others through times of trouble or just put a smile on their face with one of my musings, I have discovered that I have value. I am treasured by others. And with that, I have found the magic in myself.

I am treasured. I am valued.

It comes full circle, really. Trying to find treasures to store up is why I strive to show the love, the peace, the hope, and the joy to others as well. Each post I write, each silly picture I share (I have a whole album of daily unicorn adventures over on Facebook is anyone is interested in seeing them), each message I pen, I try to show others their own values, for in seeing them valued, I have stored up my own treasures. But they are then sent out again. For that is where my own heart is also.

You are valued.

You are treasured.

Find your treasures. Store them up. Spend them with love.

Stay magical.

Write your own story.

  2. Thank you so much for continuing to share and encourage the magical moments. 💞💞💞 So happy the way you blasted through your goals! 💞 Were you truly undervaluing yourself, or did you make a logical prediction based on history to come up with a high, yet attainable goal?

Oh man, does this line hit home…”We are valuable, but we don’t believe it.”

Please continue sharing the fun, the stories, the travels, and the magic (and if The Magician just happens to be released a little early, just blame the magic! 😉 ) 💞💞💞

    1. I could have shot for the stars. But the past has taught me many things. One of which is that if I aim for goals that others might consider “too high”, than I’m just gonna fail, so why should I even try. So I make my goals little for that reason… and yet people come through and surprise me by reminding me that I can have goals and I am valuable as I am.

      1. I feel the same way about aiming too high…I like to set smaller goals, or mini goals that lead up to a larger one. Like a staircase….you most likely can’t jump up to the next floor, but you can take it a step or two at a time.
