Lately, the muse of writing has been kind of quiet in my life…..
But that’s understandable. I’ve been busy with other facets. I do work a full time job and sometimes it gets crazy there. The adventuring with friends to find geocaches has been strong, especially since I am less than twenty days from a yearly streak now. The times I intend to sit and try to find the muse are instead filled with messages of “want to go get this cache?” and planning out ways to have fun. There is also the half acre yard that needs tending to and the 100 year old abode that needs cleaning and maintaining and the cats that rule my life. There is also the other half that I love dearly that I have to find time to spend with since we work schedules on opposite hours. As an introvert who once rarely had a social life, I feel like I have lately been a huge social butterfly. And that’s all right. But the muse waits within me to sing and I do need to tap into that once more.
I tell people that my absolute favorite song is Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. I’m not going to post all of the lyrics to the song here, but it is a song that sings to me. I feel like every lyric speaks to me. I am undefined. I break tradition and march to the beat of my own drum. I write what is on my mind and in my heart. I dance in the rain (and often hike in it even though others think I might melt.) I try to live my life with arms wide open and accept whatever adventures may come.
Here’s the official video if you’ve never heard of the song or need a refresher on it.
But sometimes, that is hard. There are setbacks. There are disappointments. There are times that this people pleasing introvert just wants to give up and give in and make others happy instead of work on my own happiness. But hey, I’ve learned in my forty five years on this earth that you have to make your own happiness and write your own story and deal with the adventure you are on, whether or not it’s one of your own making. In doing so, I have found that every day is an adventure if you look at it.
Some no context photos from recent adventures:

That’s just part of this story I am writing.
I mean, I am writing a number of stories…. my adventure fantasy Portals Series has a few more novellas at work, including one in heavy edits right now… my urban fantasy serial novel turned paperback book The Magician has a sequel that will eventually be on this blog (hoping for a release starting in August!). I am working on non-fiction series of essays as well about lessons I have learned while doing these crazy adventures Then there is whatever inspiration I gather and stories I write, since that pen’s almost always in my hand and I always have some sort of notebook at my disposal. Because this day, like every other day, is where your book begins and that is why it’s such a magical moment.
The rest… well, the rest of it is all unwritten still.
So I’m gonna keep living this life with arms wide open and being the most authentic and happy person I can be, making the mistakes I make and dealing with the adventures that come my way.
I implore you all to do the same.
Stay magical, friends.
Write your own story. Maybe read one or two of mine while you are at it!
