Two steps forward and one step back

Yesterday the other half and I got news that kind of stunned us and changes the course of some of our major plans. Without going into much detail, changes to our lives have been made yet again.

But that’s just part of life. Like John Lennon penned, “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.” Life is happening, going into another chapter, following a different trajectory. Curveballs have been thrown, yet we continue to swing for the fences.

And this news has come at a time when things seem in flux. We’re going to be traveling east in the coming week to meet up with a good portion of family for a few days. Words will be exchanged and stories will be told. We don’t know the outcome of those stories and words yet. But adventure will be had.

But sometimes, it feels like I take two steps forward and one step backwards. It feels like no matter how much I do to get ahead, I fall backwards. It’s frustrating, but it’s also a part of this story called life… and am I really going backwards or just in another direction???? All I can do is get up and dust off. And this chapter will be weathered, just as every other chapter has been weather. I will keep writing. I will keep living. I will keep finding the little glimmers of magic despite the rain clouds. And even in this moment of flux, there is a constant there. There is joy and peace, light and love, hope and magic, because this story isn’t done. Yes, there will be a bit of hardship and worry, anxiety and fear, struggle and pain. But the magic… it remains. And that step backwards may actually open up another path, another door to open, a threshold to cross.

So keep up the dance of life. Put one foot in front of the other. And stay magical, no matter what.
