I’m still here

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks in my life, so I haven’t been doing much writing on my socials.

But I am still here.

I am still writing. In fact, I almost have a short story done and am about to release another novella in my Portals Series. I still hike and geocache as much as I can and have been posting some content to my YouTube, my Facebook, my Instagram, and even on TikTok, which I just recently started using again.

But my mental headspace just hasn’t felt much like writing things for this blog (aside from the short story). I just can’t seem to find words.

The plain truth of the matter is that I’ve been trying to hold on to the spoons I have. Life has sapped my energy and I haven’t had enough time to recharge yet. But I am trying. I am juggling. And things just keep coming full force. The full time job has been crazy right now. Relationships I thought I could count on have become non-existent whilst others have stepped up to fill the void. And I have an ever growing list of things to do and places to be

But in the coming weeks, life will be slowing down a bit. The craziness of summer gives way to fall and cooler temps that allow me more time outside where I can clear my head instead of being cooped up inside with high heat and humidity and no energy because the heat has sapped it. And while this past year has thrown me some curveballs (and I anticipate the next month will throw me a great deal more), I’m gonna keep swinging. I am gonna keep dreaming. And I am gonna keep finding the magic as I can.

Any who.

If you’ve read this far, I do indeed have a new novella coming out in September. Scion is the tale of Ariadne, the daughter of the Dynast of All She Surveys. After a harrowing near-death experience in another realm, Ari’s confidence is shattered. She lives in fear of everything, becoming the shell of the adventure-seeking soon-to-be ruler of all magic everywhere. It takes the encouragement of her dearest uncles and an experience in not one, but two other realms, to help her try to find the courage to stand as the Scion once more. But can she be all that everyone expect her to be?

Here’s the cover reveal for that.

I’m also finishing up a four chapter short story that falls in the same universe….. This one is called The Keeper of Memories and will be the story of Lady Portia, otherwise known as Poe, the non-magical daughter of the Portal Seeker who accompanies her father on one of his last adventures. She faces a challenge that is uniquely hers and finds that while she may not be magical like most of her family, she can still be powerful.

I’ll also be offering a free e-book from the Portals Series again later this month. Stay tuned for that announcement!

And of course, I am still trekking away on my serial novel, The Year of the Winding Road. Brianna Washington is a great deal like I was my junior year of high school, and much of what happens in that story did happen in real life, but not all. It’s embellished of course, since fiction usually is. If you haven’t started reading it, now is your chance. And feel free to comment on the chapters as you feel led. I am trying to get back into responding.

Stay magical, friends. Keep going. Keep writing. Keep being you.

I know I will.

  1. Read your blog.  LIFE – it affects us all.  Understand completely.  Just
go with the flow, even though you may seem you are going nowhere.
Looking forward to the new Portal.
