Updates and what nots

It’s fall. It’s the first fall in my new abode and I am adapting. I am watching the first of the leaves fall through my office windows today while one of the cats naps in her bed on my desk. I am waiting on my old van to be done, since I finally am getting the rear brakes fixed on it (that is a tale all in itself, but one I don’t wish to write about.) And as some of you have found out…. I have released a new paperback of the serial novel The Magician. But that’s not all that’s happened over the past month.

The other half and I are once again a three cat household. Two weeks ago, we made a thirty mile trek to pick up a tiny barn cat we were told was a year and a half old female. We also were told she was timid. We named her Kaywinnet Lee Frye, after the sweet mechanic from the television show Firefly (and the movie Serenity) and brought her home, hoping to integrate this scared, timid little thing into our lives.

Well, SHE is neither timid, older than a year old, nor female. This tiny terror had been renamed Jayne Cobb (after the mercenary in the same show who gets mistake for female because of his name) and nicknamed JJ (since I was calling him KayKay). But then, we decided Peregrine “Pippin” Took suited him better, since we had jokingly called him “the Hobbit” because he’s always looking for second breakfast, supper, elevenses and all other meals as well. Pip was also dubbed “murder mittens” because his way of dealing with stresses at the moment is to lash out with his tiny paws of doom. I have some scratches to prove it too.

Eventually, he will calm down, grow older and get along with River and Inigo as they learn to adapt to him, just as River did when she was new. but for now, our household is full of hisses, growls and cats learning to live with each other and us all over again.

Other that that, I am also gearing up for a new round of Halloween Town. I am excited this year, since I refinished my old dresser and turned it into a credenza to actually USE for Halloween Town and all of the stories I made famous in my Village Stories. I’m also working on crafting some new pieces for Halloween Town, including a new section I’ll write about next month!

My “new” credenza

There’s a great deal going on, including more to write. I’m working on the sequel to The Magician, called The Trickster, of which I posted a sample here. And then there’s the four works in progress so far for my Portals Series. And then there’s the stuff I do to help at my church and full time work and just trying to get outdoors as much as I can…. the list is endless. But that’s life. Just as it should be. and this crazy story will keep being written, just as I am writing my own stories. And speaking of which, I DO WRITE BOOKS if you didn’t know. Check out the footer I always post on this blogs if you want to read them.

Stay magical, friends.
