As I drove home the other day from work to my new abode, I noticed a hawk catching a ride on a gust of wind. In that same seven mile journey, I also noticed an eagle flying high in the sky, a flock of geese in perfect formation in the vista ahead of me, and a handful of songbirds doing their dance of flight just above the power lines. All of these events are fairly mundane here in my little swath of the Midwest, yet they are all moments of wonderment that send my imagination soaring.
It’s in these moments that I seem to live. The sky watching, that first sweet sip of coffee in the morning, that glimmer of yellow as dawn breaks eastward in the sky all produce a moment of magic for me. The trick is learning to watch for them and string them together to create a wonderful story. While I still have my triggers and low points, my frustrations and grievances like anyone else, I try to find these glimmers of magic as well.
So I take to glancing at the sky on occasion as I drive the highways and streets of my daily commute. I people watch as I sit in laundromats and restaurants. I savor the sunrise from my little abode, watching as the sky changes colors amongst the bare branches of the trees that populate my backyard. I witness the effect of a child’s laughter in a grocery store checkout line. I smile as a stranger dances to the beat of their music in their headphones whilst they wait for their ride on a city sidewalk. I enjoy the moment of calm amongst a busy week of work when I accidentally arrive earlier than scheduled. It’s in every note in every card I pen to those who need it.
Find your moments of magic. Learn to listen to your soul and be mesmerized by whatever takes flight. Savor the sounds, the sights, the smells, the sensations, the tastes that bring you joy and string those together into a symphony of hope and peace, joy and love.
And then….. Share it with others.
Stay magical.

I think the key is to keep looking for, recognizing, and being thankful for those pockets of magic and blessing around us. The more we are aware of them, the more we will find. ๐๐๐

You speak the truth! I look for the little things, on my worst days when I am consumed by depression, anxiety, and ptsd symptoms, the little things are what keeps me going! Thanks for the reminder to keep watching for them! Xx
