I seem to find God in the strangest of places.
In the lyrics to a heavy metal song, poignancy touches my soul.
In the sunrise after a week of bad weather, celestial splendor abounds.
In the comments on a Facebook post, kindness drowns out the evil.
In the quiet moments of a walk, clarity overcomes the turmoil in the mind.
In a conversation with a complete stranger that leaves us realizing that humanity still exists.
In the sudden rainstorm when the sun is still shining brightly, elation springs forth as there is spontaneous dance.
These moments are filled with something a little more ethereal for me. There is love when you least expect it. There is hope when you thought it was lost. There is joy despite the heartbreak. There is peace even in the midst of hostility.
There is a sort of magic that is not created by humans.
Others I know will chalk these up to coincidence or tell me that religion is just a crutch for the weak-minded. But I have come to gather these moments and tuck them away in my mind, savoring them as I write my tales. Just as I have been derided for being an author of fantasy stories or working a series of jobs that some might deem beneath my intelligence. I tend to continue to find God in the strangest places even when others tell me I should buck my faith. These moments are mine to experience in the way that I wish to.
Make your own magic. Look for the glimmers in the darkness. Do what nourishes your own soul.
And if it means finding God in the strangest of places for you, do so.

Indeed we can, but we have to learn to see the magic first!
Sorry for being so late with the comments, Q…. it’s been a tiring couple of days.

I don’t think it’s strange to find God anywhere….since He is everywhere….we just need the eyes to see Him. Keep sharing your glimmers and your magic, K…and allowing others to get a glimpse of Him too. 💞
