I often tell people I’m not a fan of changes. Routines work best for me, even as I do plan a bit of flexibility into them as needed. Plans are made in advance and sometimes even have built-in excuses if I have to bail on them. And when changes occur, I’m often left feeling like I’m trying to tread water.
But one thing I have learned…. Change is always inevitable.
Sometimes, change is something that can be seen on the road ahead. There are signs that give warning. There might even be a desire for those changes and a resolution to see them through.
It’s the curveball changes that get me. The ones that come out of the blue and come without warning. The ones that leave me feeling like I am not prepared. The ones that rock my world.
Recently, some of those curveball kinds of changes have happened. The other half was laid off with a number of people from his place of employment. A responsibility I have done for years now will be coming to an end quite suddenly. Relationships I have counted on have waned or disintegrated. And most of these have come without much warning, leaving me feeling like I am grasping for straws and taking steps backwards. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for sure, but life continues to press on.
But there are good changes too. There are the silver lining I have been finding. The other half has taken on some of the odd jobs around our abode that needed to be done in this time of flux. New relationships are blossoming and filling the voids. I am finding that I have time for different endeavors now that opportunities I once had have ceased. And I continue to find glimmers in the storms, the magic in the moment, the hope as it blossoms. This is a time of change, but it doesn’t have to be a time where all change is bad.
Blessed are those who find new routines to suit them in the midst of changes.
Blessed are those who accept that change will be inevitable, even as they resist it.
Blessed are those who deal with the hardships of life and find the love, peace, hope, joy, light and magic in the silver linings, even as they deal with the hard emotions and the frustrations of those changes.
Change is inevitable. It’s how we deal with those changes that make us who we are.
Stay magical, friends.
